When the Goals project was inherited in 2024, the playerbase was unhappy with the slow, browser-based gameplay, 6v6 teams, and scrolling pitch.

Goals Tactics gameplay needed to be turn-based and strategic, but have the fast-paced cadence of a soccer game.
User turns were put on an 8 second timer and actions were restricted to 3 simple finger taps. The pitch was turned into a grid based board that fit entirely onto a horizontal mobile phone screen.
